Part Selector
Fig: Trade-off across FPGA devices of different sizes on resources, package, power and cost
The Part Selector helps FPGA developers compare devices across vendors and families by logic capacity, on-chip resources, packaging, power and ecosystem support.
How to use
- Selection dimensions: logic elements (LUT/FF) with BRAM/DSP resources; high-speed transceivers and packages; power and cost; toolchain and ecosystem support; availability and lifecycle.
- Process: define design scale and interfaces → shortlist candidate families by resource needs → compare packages and pin-outs → evaluate power and thermal → finalize by cost and supply.
Example comparison
| Dimension | AMD Artix-7 | Intel Cyclone 10 | Pango Kosmo-2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Logic (example) | ~20K–215K | ~25K–85K | by series config |
| Positioning | Mid logic/transceivers | Low cost | Domestic alternative |
| Toolchain | Vivado | Quartus | Pango Design Suite |
Part Selection Workflow
Selection narrows down step by step: fix design scale and interfaces, shortlist families by on-chip resources, compare packages and pins, evaluate power and thermal, then decide by cost and availability.
